Collagen Biostimulators
Collagen biostimulators, also known as collagen inducers or collagen boosters, are a type of dermal filler that works by stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen. Collagen is a protein that is found throughout the body, and it is responsible for giving skin its structure and elasticity. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, which can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.
Collagen biostimulators trigger the body’s inflammatory response, which leads to the production of new collagen. The results of collagen biostimulator treatments are gradual, subtle and natural looking, and it may take several months to see the full effects. However, the results can last for up to two years.
Collagen biostimulators are not right for everyone. People with certain medical conditions, such as autoimmune diseases or allergies to the materials used in the injections, may not be good candidates for this procedure. It is important to consult with our Cosmetic Doctor or Nurses to find out if collagen biostimulators are right for you.
Collagen biostimulators are different to skin boosters as they stimulate collagen and have a revitalizing effect. They are also not to be confused with volume enhancement as they do not add any volume to your face, but purely aim towards an improvement of your overall skin quality and complexion and skin health.
Are there any side effects?
We consider this treatment fairly non invasive with minimal or no downtime. It is common to have small bumps, some tenderness and mild bruising after your treatment. We recommend not wearing any make up for 12 hours after your treatment and avoid vigorous exercise and alcohol for a couple of days. Please avoid taking any blood thinners such as aspirin or anti inflammatory medication for 24 hours before your treatment.
How many treatments are required?
Patients may require 2-3 vials spaced one month apart.
When can I expect to see results?
The first effect patients usually notice is more hydrated skin within a few days after the treatments. Usually you may see some effects around a month after your treatment. Results continue to improve as your body is creating it’s own collagen and elastin.
