What is a thread lift?

Threads an innovative non surgical facial rejuvenation procedure designed to gently elevate sagging brows, cheeks and jowls. It is a convenient, less invasive alternative to traditional facelifts, designed for people experiencing signs of ageing. Oolala Cosmetic & Laser Clinic only uses the TGA approved  threads to achieve the best result for our clients, these include Silhouette Soft, Aptos, PDO & Spring  Threads and mono threads.

*TGA Therapeutic Goods Administration is the medicine and therapeutic regulatory agency of the Australian Government.

During a thread lift, the cosmetic surgeon inserts thin threads into the face through tiny incisions made in the targeted area. These threads attach to the skin tissue and are then pulled back to lift and smooth the face. Almost immediately, treated areas will be raised slightly, eliminating sagging and giving patients a rejuvenated appearance. The goal of a thread lift is to reposition facial and neck tissues therefore restoring youthful proportions and appearances to the face.

Let’s look the main difference between the Threads that Dr. Jeffery does….

Aptos Thread Lift

This advanced and unique technique is ideal for candidates that do not wish to undergo a full face lift. An Aptos thread lift will result an instant lift to the treated area. It will tighten saggy skin and smooth wrinkles . Results improve over the next few months as your skins collagen production kicks in further improving skin tone and texture. Aptos threads are made from poly-L-lactic acid & caprolactone material, meaning that they last longer than a conventional PDO thread lift. Even though the threads dissolve over time, many patients benefit  from the procedure for several giving them a softer, more youthful appearance.

Aptos threads rejuvenate the face without changing your natural facial features.

An Aptos thread lift can only be performed by trained Doctors. Doctor Jeffery has undergone extensive training in all aspects of thread lifting and has also been performing thread lift procedures for many years.

Short PDO Rejuvenation Threads (mono or double screw threads)

Short  Mono Threads are designed mainly to improve natural volume, tighten the skin, induce collagen and rejuvenate the skin. They are often use in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures to improve skin appearance and quality.  Your skin is gradually improved as this procedure stimulates collagen production and your skin is rejuvenated over time as your body naturally produces collagen. This treatment is not used to lift or address saggy skin.

Double screw mono threads basically are 2 mono threads intertwined together around the inserting needle. It can give volume to sunken facial areas and they can have a volumizing effect and may give a subtle face lifting effect. This is not to be compared with the Aptos Thread Lift.

Why have a thread lift?

The 3 pictures above simulate a patient at the age of 35, 45 and 55 years of age…  Skin becomes thinner, losing its plumpness and firmness. Skin becomes slack with a loss of the elastic tissue (elastin) in the skin and over time this causes the skin to hang loosely, lines and wrinkles appear. Loss of fat below the skin in the cheeks, temples, chin, nose, and eye area can also result in loosening of the skin and a sunken eye appearance. Threads help support and lift saggy skin and can also help stimulate collagen further improving skin texture and elasticity

Frequently asked Questions:

How long does a thread lift take?

This innovative  procedure can be performed in as little as two hours, some threads require even less time.

Am I able to drive home after my procedure?

Clients will be made comfortable during the procedure using anaesthetic administered by Doctor Jeffery. The clinic asks that all patients organise pre-payment and also a reliable driver to pick them up after the procedure.

Am I a good candidate for threads?

The best candidates for a thread lifts are in their 30s to 60s and have relatively good skin tone. Most are beginning to experience sagging in their face or neck but do not have excessively loose skin or drooping facial areas that might require more rigorous facelift surgery. If signs of ageing are relatively minimal, a thread lift may be a good way to make cosmetic enhancements while avoiding facelift scarring and other potential side effects, which sometimes occur after more intensive surgical procedures.

How long will my results last?

Results will be seen immediately post treatment, but will progressively improve over the following 6 weeks to 6 months. The result time will vary from client to client depending on your health, lifestyle and skincare regime. Clients can expect for the result to last for at least 18 months usually, though with some people it can last much longer. Threads will improve the skin’s natural collagen and in turn improving the skin’s elasticity. Our Cosmetic Doctor may recommend the use of other Cosmetic treatments such as Dermal Fillers and Anti Wrinkle injections, depending on your personal requirements.

  • Mild swelling/bruising for a few weeks
  • Mild discomfort in jaw area
  • Tenderness and and numbness
  • slight asymmetry (small unevenness)
  • Mild rippling around incision site
  • Possible indentation of cone, this will resolve over time as your body’s natural collagen forms.
  • Nerve damage is a rare complication with many advanced medical procedures
  • Sometimes a suture will show itself just below the skin, as well.

Which areas are treated with a thread lift?

Eye brow thread lift:

Ageing is the main cause for drooping of the forehead and brows and eyelid hooding. This is due to less skin elasticity and gravity taking its toll. Sudden weight loss can also contribute to drooping of eyelids / brows. Lifting those areas non surgically can significantly improve the visual appearance on those areas. Some illnesses can cause damage to the nerves that function forehead and brow muscles. If these nerves suffer injury, this can result in a forehead or brow drop.

Face thread lift:

Ageing is a natural occurrence. However sun exposure damages your skin cells and smoking can causes the skin to dry out and age even faster. As we age and gravity takes it’s toll, our skin looses elasticity and skin collagen production is reduced year by year until it completely stops. This results in saggy, wrinkly skin.  Weight loss can also contribute to sagging stretched skin. A face thread lift will help support and strengthen skin where it is needed the most to achieve a more youthful appearance. Skin is pulled back and supported, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles in the process.

Neck & jowl lift:

The neck and jowl area should not be forgotten. The skin around those areas is fairly thin and fragile. This means there is less support in its fight against gravity. People on occasion tend to “forget” and “neglect” about the delicate neck area. This is where you can sometimes tell the ageing of a person… it can also result in loss of neckline due to loose skin on the neck. Threads can be used very effectively to lift the neck and jowl areas.

How much will the thread lift procedure cost?

Due to the procedure involving minimal anaesthesia and no hospital time, the procedure costs much less than half a conventional facelift procedure. The cost will depend on how many threads are used during the procedure, Dr Jeffery is more than happy to give patients more detailed information regarding pricing in specific regions. A deposit will be required at the time of booking, with a full payment being required the day before the procedure.
