As the years go by, the effects of life start to show, particularly on the face. Aging, sun exposure, and acne can all leave their marks on the skin, despite your best skin care efforts to erase or prevent them. Blotches, wrinkles, lines, and scars can add entire years onto your appearance as well as affect your self-confidence, perhaps even robbing you of your deserved and full enjoyment in life.

Like many cosmetic skin treatments, laser resurfacing can also restore your confidence and give you the boost you need to enjoy every day to the fullest again. In this article, find out everything you should know about laser skin resurfacing and how it can mean real improvements in your life.

We are proud to offer not only skin rejuvenation but also scar correction treatments through the MT You laser

The You laser MT offers mixed technology for use in anti ageing fractional laser technology. It combines non-ablative 1540nm wavelength and ablative CO2 wavelength resulting in excellent results for skin rejuvenation and treatment for scars.

The only laser system of its kind producing both wavelengths that offer such outstanding results with minimal downtime. The downtime is significantly reduced by the combination of the two laser beams.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Broadly speaking, laser skin resurfacing is designed to reduce facial wrinkles, scars, and blemishes. This cosmetic procedure uses a laser to improve the appearance of skin or to treat minor facial flaws by removing layers of skin. Laser skin resurfacing gets rid of old skin layer by layer with incredible precision, using a laser tool that’s designed to remove the surface of the skin. The new skin cells that form during the healing process give the face a tighter and younger-looking surface.

The procedure can be done alone or with other cosmetic surgeries to achieve your desired outcome.

Do I Need Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser Skin Resurfacing is an appropriate treatment for many different skin concerns. It can be suitable for people who are looking to reduce or remove visible signs of aging and skin damage, such as:

  • Acne Scars
  • Age Spots
  • Crow’s feet
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Sagging skin
  • Scars
  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles

The best candidates for laser skin resurfacing treatment will be healthy, with good skin elasticity and a non-oily complexion. Additionally, ideal candidates for laser skin resurfacing will have light to medium skin color and light or moderate wrinkles or blemishes. Those with darker skin tones may have an elevated risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation and should consult with their doctor about options before deciding on the treatment.

What happens during the procedure?

The 1540nm non-ablative fractional laser creates microchannels deep in the skin whilst the CO2 10,600nm creates surface micro ablative dots. The mixed technology utilizes the two laser wavelengths to make changes to both the deep dermal layer as well as the surface epidermal layer.

Sun damaged skin tissue is gently removed during the procedure. The skin is stimulated to produce new healthy skin and collagen, which over time will result in firmer, plumper skin.

The process removes sun-damaged tissue and stimulates the growth of healthy new skin and collagen. This results in firmer, brighter and plumper looking skin.

What does “fractional” mean? How does the You laser MT Fractional treatment work?

Fractional means that only a small percentage of the skin is affected and requires treatment. The Fractional MT laser sends laser pulses to treat damaged cells located deep in the skin. It selectively removes columns of skin leaving the surrounding skin intact. The healing time is significantly shortened and the body’s natural healing process creates new collagen.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients will see positive and significant results just after one treatment. To maintain optimal results a yearly treatment is recommended.

Who can have this treatment?

Patients with light-to-medium skin tones with ageing skin conditions or scars will benefit from a You laser MT Fractional treatment.

What areas can be treated?

The You laser MT can be used on any areas of the face or body. It is also effective on delicate areas such as periorbital (around the eyes) and perioral (around the mouth) areas and scars.

Is there any discomfort during the treatment?

The treatment is described by patients as little fast hot pinches. Your doctor administers local to the treatment area to alleviate any possible discomfort.

How soon will I see results?

A lot of patients see improvements just after a few weeks with results further improving after 8-12 weeks when the body starts to naturally produce collagen and elastin fibres.

When can I use makeup?

You may use mineral make up after a couple of days. We recommend the use of the antibacterial make up called Oxygenetix.

What is to be expected after the procedure?

Your skin may be red and swollen after your treatment. This could last for a couple to a few days. Crusting may appear on the skin surface. There is no major discomfort after the treatment. We guide all our patients thru the recovery process and advice aftercare.

Why should I opt for the You laser Mixed Technology instead of other Laser treatments available?

The You MT laser is the only laser on the market using the unique mixed technology of CO2 and 1540nm, which gives patients dramatic results after just one treatment with minimal downtime.
