Surgical Blepharoplasty
As we age our skin starts to loose it’s elasticity. This not only causes the fine lines and wrinkles to your face, it can also cause you eye area to age dramatically. Wrinkles start to appear underneath and to the side of your eyes, becoming more prominent when you smile. On top of that the skin on top of your eyes, your eyelids become droopy and heavy. This can make you look tired and the pesky eyelids may become heavy and can even obstruct your eyesight.
What is a Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a procedure that alters the appearance of the upper eyelids by excising / cutting away loose skin and -or fatty tissue. The aim is to improve the appearance of the area surrounding the eyes and to improve vision obscured by drooping eyelids.
How long does a Blepharoplasty take?
This innovative blepharoplasty procedure can be performed in two hours. Twilight sedation is used by our Cosmetic Doctor, to make you more comfortable during the procedure. Our patients report that they feel no pain or discomfort during the procedure.
Am I able to drive home after my procedure?
Due to the anesthesia, patients are not allowed to drive home after the procedure. Therefore you will require someone to drive you home when your procedure has finished and you are alert and awake to go home.
What to do before my procedure?
We recommend you stop taking medication and supplements with blood thinning agents that can increase bleeding or bruising. Please mention this when booking your procedure at the time of booking, if you need further clarification. You may be prescribed pain killers and a course of antibiotics after your procedure.
Am I a good candidate for blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is suitable for:
- loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper
- draping skin that obscures or blocks your vision
- droopiness of the eyelids
- excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness beneath the eyelid skin
How long will my result last?
Results will be seen immediately post treatment, but will progressively improve over the following 6 weeks- 6 months. The result time will vary from client to client depending on your health, lifestyle and skincare regime.
How much downtime will I have post procedure?
Downtime will vary depending on the client. For the first week you may experience swelling and mild bruising to area. We would like to advise that we do recommend clients to not book any special occasions/functions in for 2 weeks post procedure.

- Swelling/bruising for a few weeks
- Skin discoloration
- Mild Pain or discomfort
- Numbness
- Possible Bruising on the whites of the eyes
- Irritated eyes
