Liposuction continues to be one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. It is considered safe for good candidates and is well-tolerated by most patients. You may be a good candidate for liposuction if you are not more than twenty pounds overweight, do not smoke tobacco products, are mentally stable, have good skin elasticity, and have a positive mental attitude and realistic expectations about the procedure and its risks.

 

Liposuction is not recommended as a remedy for being overweight or obese. It is also not meant for cellulite removal. We do offer alternate treatment options to target cellulite.

Minimally invasive Fat reduction Treatments

We utilise the following systems:

SAL (suction assisted Liposuction)

Suction assisted liposuction is the standard method of liposuction where a straw-like device (the cannula) is inserted through a small incision and attached to a vacuum device. Forwards and backward motion is used through the fat layer, breaking up fat cells and drawing them out of the body using suction.

PAL ( Power assisted liposuction)

Power assisted liposuction is similar to the suction method but with a mechanized movement on the cannula requiring fewer manual movements. This can often allow for more precise fat removal using tiny yet rapid vibrations to break up the fat cells, removing more fat in less time.

RFAL (Radiofrequency assisted liposuction) – Invasix Bodytite

Invasix Bodytite uses patented radiofrequency assisted liposuction technology that combines adipose tissue and blood vessel coagulation and simultaneous aspiration with precise dermal heating to achieve fast, safe and consistent fat reduction results. This application is precise and heats specific targets without thermal injury to surrounding areas. With decreased downtime and no need for anesthesia, safety is improved and superior results achieved.

Vaser (Vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance)

Vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance (Vaser) significantly reduces trouble areas of fat to provide a superior body contouring technique with less recovery time and excellent results using high frequency sound waves.

Smart Lipo

SmartLipo is a minimally invasive laser technique which has been designed to break down fat cells. During the treatment, the laser beam will also contact the skin layer,  which stimulates the production of elastin and collagen and can help to tighten up the skin.

Are there  similarities between Smart Lipo and Traditional Lipo?

Yes, as both procedures can be used on all body areas such as stomach, love handles flabby upper arms or double chin. Please remember that these methods are not considered a procedure for weight loss, but they will help remove stubborn fat and make you look more defined..

Are there differences between Traditional Lipo and other Smart Lipo Treatments?

Yes, Smart Lipo uses the heat from a Laser to soften the fat. The traditional Lipo uses the manual manual use of a cannula to suck the fat from underneath your skin.

Pros & Cons of the Procedure

Liposuction has been one of the most popular body contouring procedures for decades. Most patients feel that there are few downsides associated with it. As with all elective cosmetic surgeries, one primary limiting factor is cost.

Some other “cons” of liposuction are:

  • Surgical results can be negatively affected by weight gain, pregnancy, poor diet, and the aging process
  • While it can be helpful, it is not intended to improve the appearance of cellulite, which is fat tissue that has “pushed” up through the connective tissues of the skin

We pride ourselves with our after care program for Lipsuction patients which includes Icoone, Lipotron and I Lipo treatments to further enhance your results. Our Liposuction procedure is done in our theatre room at our sister Clinic, Surfers Health Medical Centre. This is a day procedure done under twilight sedation and takes a couple of hours. You can expect to loose up to 2 litres of fat when this procedure is performed by Dr. Jeffery.
