What is Fat freezing?

This popular non surgical body contouring method is used worldwide to help eliminate areas of stubborn subcutaneous fat. This is  the pinchable fat found just underneath the skin and most people find it extremely difficult to get rid off even with a healthy diet and exercise.

This procedure is also referred to as  cryolipolysis which “freezes” and “damages” the cells underneath the skin.  Some of the fat cells are damaged to such a state that they die over the coming weeks and your body naturally  eliminates these dead fat cells. Some of the cells however survive, therefore multiple treatments per area are not uncommon.

What happens after your Fat freezing treatment?

Treated fat cells are removed and fewer fat cells remain in your body. Untreated areas do not change. If you gain weight after your fat freeze procedure fewer fat cells will hold new excess fat however
the untreated remaining fat cells may still become bigger due to them absorbing new excess fat.

Why would I choose Fat freezing treatments?

Fat freezing is a non invasive option to treat and remove stubborn fat from body areas where diet and exercise alone have not been able to deliver you results.  Our fat freezing treatment takes anywhere from 35 – 75 minutes depending on treatment area. There is no downtime and you may resume your normal daily activities immediately after your treatment.

Which areas can be treated? Common areas of treatment include:

• Abdomen (tummy)
• Flanks (love handles)
• Submental (double chin)
• Upper arms
• Brassiere roll (bra puff)
• Back (bra fat)
• Pseudogynaecomastia (man boobs)
• Inner thighs
• Outer thighs (saddle bags)
• Around the knees (distal thighs)
• Under the buttocks (banana rolls)

Who can have Fat freeze treatments?

Both women and men can benefit from this treatment, although women store fat differently. This treatment can be done  on most  people who have stubborn pockets of fat despite having a healthy diet and have a regular excercise regime.

Some people are not suitable candidates for this treatment who have certain medical conditions such as:
cryoglobulinaemia (a blood protein disease), cold agglutinin disease (a rare anaemic autoimmune disease) or paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria
(a rare autoimmune disease). It is important to note that our fat freeze treatments are not a weight-loss procedures. We recommend a consultation to determine if this treatment is suitable for you.  An individual treatment plan will be provided for you to outline the course of your treatments.

The following effects  may occur in the treatment area during and after your  treatment. Side effects in general are temporary and resolve on its own within a few days or weeks.

• Sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental area treatment

What can I expect on treatment day?

A gel pad is applied to your treatment area first. The handpiece is then applied over the pad to the treatment area for anywhere between 35 – 75 minutes depending on the treatment area.

Controlled cooling at a pre set level determined by your technician is delivered to the treatment area which  causes the fat cells to become damaged and die. You may feel some different sensations during the treatment such as pulling, tugging and or mild pinching and stinging along with intense cold sensation during the cooling process which subsides as the treatment moves along and the treatment area becomes numb.

The technician massages the area for 2 minutes once the handpieces are removed. This helps with the  break down of the damaged frozen fat cells. The body eliminates  these damaged cells up to 12 weeks after your treatment.
